K TALKS A personal space with our clients: TELEFONICA PERU
In this episode of K-Talks, we spoke with Elena Maestre, Executive President of Telefónica Perú, who told us about Telefónica and its first 100 years of business, and how it is growing in Peru, where it recently celebrated its 35th anniversary.
Elena is originally from Spain, but for several years her professional life has been linked to Latin America, much of it as part of the Telefónica team where she has worked for more than 20 years. Most recently, for over a year now, she has been successfully leading the company in Peru. As the first woman in Latin America to take on the leadership of a company in the telecommunications industry, her career is a remarkable one.
In addition to asking her about the challenges she is addressing with her team at Telefónica to keep the company at the forefront of the market, we spoke with her about female leadership in business.
As a woman leader, she feels a great responsibility to open things up in order to get ever closer to equality between genders, especially in management positions. In the end, she says, society is 50-50 and companies must try to reach this same proportion.
Telefónica itself is trying to promote more and more women in technological areas through its MUJERES EN RED initiative.
Finally, Elena offers us her own advice for leadership, which is to take the risk of being a leader even before you have that position; she also reflects on the ethical impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence, which is based on how those of us who use it feed it.
We hope you enjoy this new episode of K-Talks.
